“A Requiem for Atlanta” is a live exploration of the storytelling game, Vampire: The Requiem, in the form of a continuing blog detailing the chronicle we’re actually playing at the White Wolf Game Studio. Where possible, we’ll deal with issues of storytelling, game mechanics, and meditations on the game world. Subjects get covered as they come up in play at our own game table. At the same time, this is an “Actual Play” resource intended for you, at home, to pillage as you will. Steal characters, stories, settings and any ideas you like from this chronicle.

Remember, though, that in all instances this is a home game, not an official supplement. The version of Atlanta we present on this site may or may not be the same take on the city that you use in your chronicle. Like all good Storytellers, you’ll catch us deviating from the core game mechanics when it suits our needs, and you’ll catch us contradicting some of our own game books here and there. Such is the existence of a live roleplaying campaign.

We’re assuming you know more or less what Vampire: The Requiem is about. Just in case you’re not familiar with the game, though, we’ll explain things like clans and covenants as they come up. Even with all the fancy capitalized words and special game jargon, though, Vampire is ultimately a game about stories, about personal tales of gruesome drama, internecine intrigue, brutal violence and a vicious underworld obsessed with territory and blood. So whether you come in knowing the difference between a Nosferatu and a Daeva or not, you should find something to capture your imagination.

Learn more about Vampire: The Requiem at the official White Wolf Game Studio website. There you can download a free introductory story with a complete primer on the game rules. You’ll be playing in no time.

Questions, comments and all that are welcome.

How to Read This Site

There’s a trick to reading this site. If you’re not a regular reader, it can be a tangle. Remember: this isn’t a book, it’s a hypertext. It’s not meant to be read strictly in order. Rather, you’re expected to just dip in and find some information you can use in your own Vampire: The Requiem chronicles, whether it’s a character or a story seed or whatever you like.

The newest entries appear at the top of the main page, as they are created or updated. Use the categories to your right to look through older entries and uncover a few hidden secrets. Because the game’s been going on a lot longer than this site has been around, we’ll be going back and filling in a few holes here and there.

Don’t fret about seeing everything, that’s not how cities work. Just visit. Take turns as they interest you and see where you end up.

    Hi there,

We’re doing something similar on our blog: http://requiemno.blogspot.com

We began with the starter New Orleans chronicle and let the game take off from there. We use the blog as a ongoing live journal for the characters to vent, as well as a place for them to discuss (argue) things in between games. We’ve linked here so people can see what a great site this is and we’ll be sure to check back often to see how your game evolves. Looking forward to it!
